Someone Else

Someone Else

***

Reviewed by: Paul Griffiths

A woman who lives on her own visits her therapist and recounts her paranoia that someone else is watching her.

Andrew Newall’s brief short is very much of two halves, the first economically setting its scene while the second moves to its more mysterious conclusion.

A simple concept executed with a micro-budget, it’s an enjoyably off-kilter turn that offers a little more than immediately obvious explanations. Ultimately a piece working sufficiently to evoke mood, mental state and the consequence of experiences, Someone Else marks Newall as a filmmaker with evident talent.
